The Minnesota Department of Administrative Services retained MOCA to assist in the organization of the Capitol Preservation Commission and to develop a comprehensive master plan for the restoration of the Minnesota State Capitol, built in 1905. The project includes exterior repairs; mechanical, electrical, fire-safety, technology and security systems upgrades; ADA modernization; and interior functional improvements.

Based on a recommended $241 million budget to restore the Capitol, MOCA and the Capitol Preservation Commission developed a comprehensive master plan and preliminary pre-design package detailing the project’s critical elements and an initial funding package.

During construction, which began in the fall of 2013, MOCA is facilitating and coordinating communications between the design team and tenants, and is overseeing critical path issues relating to schedule and project definition documents.
